After careful brainstorming and discussion within our community, we’ve decided to make some strategic changes to our upcoming “Introduction to WordPress” series to enhance your learning experience.
Why the Change?
During our recent planning sessions, we realized that the original agenda might have been a bit overwhelming, especially for those who are completely new to WordPress. We want to ensure that our sessions are not just informative but also engaging and easy to follow. Therefore, we’ve refined the content to keep it more focused, concise, and beginner-friendly.
The new format will help participants build a solid foundation in WordPress without feeling overloaded with information. We believe that breaking down the sessions into more digestible parts will provide a clearer understanding and a better learning journey for everyone.
What’s New?
Here’s the updated structure for our four-part “Introduction to WordPress” series:
Session 1: Getting Started with WordPress

In our first session, we’ll kick off with some storytelling to set the context and highlight real-world use cases of WordPress. You’ll learn:
- Storytelling: Discover the impact of WordPress through real-world stories and use cases.
- WordPress – Getting Started: A beginner’s guide to understanding what WordPress is and why it’s so popular.
- WordPress Resources: Explore essential resources like Learn WordPress, WordPress Playground, and other helpful tools.
- Installation & Hands-On: We’ll guide you through different methods of installing WordPress.
- Common WordPress Terminology: Get familiar with key terms like Themes, Plugins, Dashboards, and Settings.
Session 2: Understanding WordPress in Depth

In this session, we’ll dive deeper into some of the advanced concepts to enhance your understanding:
- Advanced Terminology: Learn about Slugs, Permalinks, Categories, Tags, and Taxonomies.
- Introduction to Block Editor: A brief overview of the Classic Editor, Gutenberg, and the modern Block Editor.
- Hands-On Block Editor: Get practical experience in using the Block Editor to create engaging content.
Session 3: Mastering Themes, Widgets, and Site Structure

This session is all about customizing your WordPress site:
- Themes: Understanding Parent and Child themes and their usage.
- Widgets Capabilities: Learn how to use widgets to enhance your site’s functionality.
- Template Hierarchy: Get insights into how WordPress templates work.
- Full Site Editing (FSE): An introduction to FSE and how it revolutionizes website customization.
- User Roles: Understanding different user roles and permissions in WordPress.
Session 4: Building Your Own Website & Beyond
📅 Date: 8 December 2024
In our final session, we’ll put everything into practice by building a website in real time:
- Live Website Building: Watch a step-by-step walkthrough of creating your website from scratch.
- Security & Optimization: Basic security practices and optimization tips to keep your site fast and safe.
Each of these sessions will run for 45-50 minutes, followed by an open floor discussion where we’ll address all your questions and doubts.
What About the Original Content?
We know some of you were excited about the topics we initially announced. Don’t worry! All the content from the original series will still be covered, but in a more detailed and structured manner through additional series that we will announce soon.
