On May 27, 2023, we joined the global celebration of WordPress’s 20th Birthday. It was a joyous occasion that highlighted the power of open source, the strength of community, and the profound impact WordPress has made in clients’ businesses and people’s lives. We couldn’t miss out on the festivities either! Our gathering was filled with enthusiastic WordPress community members who came together to mark this special milestone.
Throughout the meetup, we had the opportunity to learn from experienced WordPress veterans who shed light on Automattic’s various contributions to the platform. We also had the pleasure of meeting new entrepreneurs who have found success within this vibrant open-source community. It was truly heartening to witness the continuous growth of the WordPress community, fueled by the passion and dedication of its incredible members.
One of the highlights of the evening was an engaging discussion where attendees shared their interesting project journeys. Shashank, for instance, captivated us with his experience managing a project that garnered a remarkable 2 million page views. Even Matt himself took note of this impressive achievement!
The celebration continued with diverse conversations on a range of topics. Some participants shared the challenges they were facing, while others offered valuable solutions. We also reminisced about memorable moments from past WordCamps, meetups, and other noteworthy contributions made by fellow WordPress enthusiasts.
At the heart of the celebration was our dear friend – WordPress. You must have noticed, WordPress release names sync with the music. WordPress major releases are named in honor of jazz musicians.
To add a special musical touch to the evening, Vishal treated us to his incredible guitar skills, playing melodious tunes. It was a magical moment that brought us all together.
Of course, no celebration is complete without delicious food. As we indulged in the culinary delights, our stomachs were filled, but our hearts were even fuller.
The evening carried on with more songs and laughter until it was time to bid farewell, knowing that we would meet again soon.
